Learn More about the Universe at the Institute of Noetic Sciences
As you well know, science makes up the backbone of everything we do here with the Alexander Method®️️. Constantly backed up by the latest scientific research, I am always in search of new and exciting discoveries that could help me further develop the modality and bring new ideas to both practitioners and patients.
There are many groups out there who share these ideals, and one of the most impressive is the Institute of Noetic Sciences, or IONS for short (isn’t that a fantastic name?!) And it just so happens that I will be speaking at IONS this upcoming July 9th!
IONS History
A highwater mark for science in the United States (and the world) were the Apollo moon missions. From the tragedy of Apollo 1 to the historic voyage of Apollo 11 to the final trip to the moon with Apollo 17, space travel has spurred both imagination and scientific advancement. It pushed the realm of human experience beyond the limitations of our world into the deep reaches of space. Not only did the journey to the moon expand our knowledge of our friendly neighbor in the sky, but the technological discoveries that went into creating the lunar rocket and capsule created many things that we use today, such as memory foam and the Dustbuster!
The Apollo missions also gave us some of the greatest emissaries for scientific advancement the world has ever known. One such lunar astronaut, Dr. Edgar Mitchell, was the sixth person to walk on the moon on the Apollo 14 mission. As he traveled back home, Dr. Mitchell saw our globe hanging in space, transforming the way he viewed both ourselves and the cosmos.
“I realized that the story of ourselves as told by science—our cosmology, our religion—was incomplete and likely flawed. I recognized that the Newtonian idea of separate, independent, discrete things in the universe wasn’t a fully accurate description. What was needed was a new story of who we are and what we are capable of becoming.”
- Dr. Edgar Mitchell
After he returned to Earth, he took this new insight and established the Institute of Noetic Sciences in 1973.
What They Look to Achieve
But what’s the goal of IONS? In Dr. Mitchell’s own words:
“We need to make the world safe for creativity and intuition, for it’s creativity and intuition that will make the world safe for us.”
- Dr. Edgar Mitchell
As someone who is deeply invested in exploring consciousness and the connectedness of all things, these words touch me deeply. At IONS, scientists are free to examine commonly known, but poorly understood phenomena. Rather than simply study the physical world, they look into the non-physical possibilities that surround us all. They investigate the mysteries and possibilities that allow us to access our innate human characteristics and abilities.
Can you see why I like them?!
Don’t Miss My Presentation!
Given everything you’ve read above, you can probably guess why I am so excited that the Baltimore chapter of IONS has reached out and asked me to speak at their July Meeting. It will be held on July 9th from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Ruscombe Mansion Holistic Health Center, 4801 Yellowwood Ave. Baltimore, Maryland, 21209.
In the presentation, I will be talking about how specific vibrations and frequencies can affect our bio-fields to improve emotional, mental, and physical health. It also has the potential to produce both mystic and clairvoyant experiences and abilities. While the event is free, there is a suggested donation of $8.00.
I hope to see you there!
Oh, but while I have you here, I wanted to give you a heads up about our summer sale! We have deals on all tuning forks, meditations, and gear we offer. I invite you to visit the website and take a look around. To get your summer deals, don’t forget to put in the code “Summer2019” at checkout.
